Mrs. Chaya Reiss a”h

candle-small4[Update below.] It is with immense sadness that we report the passing of Mrs. Chaya Reiss a”h of Flatbush, Brooklyn. She was 62 years old.

Mrs. Reiss was the wife of Rav Mahir Aryeh Reiss, noted talmid chochom, author of sefer Ori Veyishi and other seforim, respected tomech Torah, and senior editor for the highly-regarded Yeshurun series, among various other positions in areas of harbotzas haTorah and tzorchei tzibbur.

Mrs. Reiss personified the regal and refined nature of an aim b’Yisroel, always carrying herself with great dignity and modesty, and serving as the consummate eizer kenegdo to her illustrious husband. She served as a pillar of support for her entire family and was beloved by so many people. The gevurah she displayed during the last period in particular served as a source of inspiration to many.

Together with her husband, Mrs. Reiss raised a beautiful mishpacha of bnei and bnos Torah, who continue to follow in the path of their remarkable parents.

Mrs. Reiss’ petirah is a tremendous blow to the many friends and admirers of the family.

Mrs. Reiss is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moshe and Gittel Bistricer; her husband, Rav Mahir; five children, Mrs. Latza Feller, Rabbi Yitzchok Reiss, Mrs. Estie Wieder, Mrs. Sorala Rosenzweig, and Mrs. Hadassah Morel; her brothers, R’ Dovid, R’ Yaakov and R’ Avrohom; and her extended family and friends.

The levaya will take place at 7 p.m. at Shomrei Hadas Chapels, located at 3803 14th Avenue in Boro Park, Brooklyn. Kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel on Har Hamenuchos in Yerushalayim.
