[Levaya hookup info below.] It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Mrs. Lauren Anton a”h of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Anton was a beloved teacher at TAM (Torah Academy of Milwaukee) High School. Her husband, Rabbi Yerachmiel “Rocky” Anton, founder and executive director of JEM (Jewish Experience Madison), the renowned kiruv organization at the University of Madison.
Mrs. Anton, who was originally from Long Island, married Rabbi Anton, a Milwaukee native, in 1987. They lived in Yerushalayim for seven years, and that is where their first four children were born.
During the summer of 1994, Rabbi and Mrs. Anton moved to Milwaukee to join Milwaukee Kollel. After giving classes on campus as part of his kollel role, Rabbi Anton came to love teaching college students and the Madison campus in particular. After leaving the kollel, Rabbi and Mrs. Anton’s passion led them to start JEM. Since then, they have added adding four campus families, and Rabbi and Mrs. Anton merited having six more children.
Mrs. Anton was a dedicated mechaneches who was loved by all, teaching Chumash, Novi and halacha at TAM, and educating her students with her mere presence and demeanor. She was an equal partner in her husband’s inspiring kiruv work. The wonderful family they have raised reflects the wonderful nature of Mrs. Anton and the values and ideals which she imparted to those who were influenced during her lifetime.
The levaya will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the social hall of Congregation Beth Yehuda, Rav Michel Twerski’s shul, in Milwaukee, located at 311 North 52nd Street in Milwaukee, followed by kevurah in the CBJ section of the Bais Hamedrash Hagadol cemetery, at 123 South Dana Court.

Our hearts are deeply saddened. Lauren will be deeply missed by all of the hearts she has touched. Our deepest condolences to Rocky and the rest of Lauren’s family. May Lauren rest in peace.

Know Lauren and her sister Gabby since the early 1980 when they attended Torah Academy of Suffolk Academy. A tzaddekis who is a Queen of a beautiful family. May hashem comfort the family b’ahavah and gevurah.

as a current student of hers i am greatly greived by her sudden passing I wrote a tribute to her
When I reached out to grasp it
Her hand was there loving me guiding me showing me she cared,
When a smile I needed, it I always received,
When I cried to her in pain her heart with me heaved
She was always there her arms open big and wide,
She through looked through our bodily casings to see our neshamos inside
She wept when we wept and sang when we sang
Danced with us in our joy and cried with us when we were in pain
She loved eac h of us in our own special and unike way,
She crouched to eye level with each and every one of us each and every day
I loved and will miss with my all heart,
But from with in it I know we will never be apart
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Lauren’s passing. I met Lauren and Suzanne (and Suzanne’s husband, David) through Long Island NCSY in the early 1980’s. Lauren was a true leader and aishes chayil. Someone I looked up to. The Zalkin and Anton families are in my thoughts and prayers.
Wonderful family. Originally from way out in Suffolk county, but wanted to be closer to frum world, so they relocated. They all became frum through NCSY. Their father was a distinguished engineer at Grumman. Brother in law, David Berger was a brilliant engineering student, but dropped everything to go into chinuch. May they know only simchasand nechama.
