Mrs. Ruth Fruchthandler a”h


candle-small6[Shivah info below.] It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Mrs. Ruth Fruchthandler a”h, the matriarch of a prestigious family of marbitzei Torah, machzikei Torah and baalei chesed in the New York metropolitan area.

Mrs. Fruchthandler was the mother of Rav Yosef Fruchthandler, a rosh yeshiva at Yeshiva Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin; Rav Avrohom Fruchthandler, nosi of Yeshiva Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin and noted philanthropist and Torah supporter; Rav Shlomo Fruchthandler, R”M in Yeshiva Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin; and Reb Zacharia Fruchthandler. She was predeceased by her son, Rav Moshe Fruchthandler, a noted rebbi and marbitz Torah.

The levaya will take place this morning, at 9:30 a.m., in Yeshiva Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin, which is located at 1605 Coney Island Avenue, between Avenues L and M, in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Update: Rav Yosef, Rav Avrohom, Rav Shlomo and Reb Zacharia Fruchthandler will be sitting shivah until Thursday morning at 1109 East 7th Street, between Avenues J and K, in Flatbush. Shacharis is 8:00 a.m., Mincha is at 2:00 p.m. and Maariv is at 9:00 p.m. The telephone number is 718-377-2151. The family requests that people not come after 10:00 p.m.

  1. Rav Moshe Fruchthandler passed away about 13 years ago. He was a rebbi in yeshivas kaminetz and he was just a very special yid. He had a profound influence on me when I was a bachur and I only knew him in passing
