MTA Chairman Joe Lhota joked Sunday that commuters could just “come in earlier” to work while track repairs wreak havoc on Penn Station.
“Try to come in earlier or later if your job allows it,” a grinning Lhota said during a press conference on the impending closure Monday of various LIRR, Amtrak, and NJ Transit lines.
Lhota added that there would be workers around various hubs to help direct straphangers through unfamiliar subway stations in order to help them get to work on time.
The repairs at Penn Station, which follow three derailments and raining sewage, are expected to last through Sept. 1. Read more at NY Post.
