mta-subwayIt looks like no matter how you ride New York City’s buses and subways, you’re going to be paying more.

The final fare hike proposal from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority includes a hike on the monthly MetroCard from $104 to $112. The weekly card would go from $29 to $30.

But the base fare would also go up from $2.25 to $2.50.

Riders at Times Square were less than thrilled Monday morning.

“Money’s tight. The economy’s in the crapper. What are you going to do?” said one man.

“What can we do? What can we do? We have no choice,” said another.

Still another said, “It is what it is. They got to fix the transit system too, you know. They got to clean it. This is part of life.”

The hike would go into effect in March, and was being planned long before superstorm Sandy hit.

Are you guys insane ?! Look what he is doing for the last 20 yrs .

  2. So they raised the tolls because we’re suppossed to travel with mass transit. Now they’re raising prices on mass transit. It’s becoming impossible.
