levi-aron4Little Leiby Kletzky was drugged before he was smothered to death, including with a drug used to treat schizophrenia, the medical examiner said today.

The medical examiner said Leiby had been given muscle relaxant, anti-psychotic drugs, painkillers and Tylenol before he was killed. The anti-psychotic drug, quetiapine, is used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia, and can also be used for depression and other episodes of mania.

A grand jury indictment could come today charging Levi Aron, a 35-year-old hardware store clerk, in the killing.

Prosecutors have charged Aron with first-degree murder and kidnapping. He pleaded not guilty and his lawyers have said he hears voices and sees hallucinations.

He is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation at Bellevue Hospital.

Aron told police in a confession that was obtained by NBC New York that he took the boy, later panicking when he saw the missing person reports.

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes said that when he met with the family of the boy on Tuesday, he “gave them my commitment that I would do everything necessary to make sure we brought justice to the memory of Leibby.”

  1. Message to the prosecution: To combat the insanity defense, go and interview the staff and management (present and past) at Empire State Supply. The suspect worked there for YEARS and was a hard-working reliable employee.

I worked with him there for almost 2 years. He was consisent, reliable and hardworking. These are hardly the traits of somone worthy of an insanity defense.

  2. Why publish a never ending stream of pictures of this man’s face??? (and plenty of other rashaim for the matter too unfortunately!)

  3. I have a family member with the illness and when they are on medication they are almost unnoticeably normal maybe with some weirdness but nothing major. When they are not taking the medication they can say and do things that are ‘not themselves’ its called ‘having an epasode’. they should try and see if he was on anything at the time of his arrest.

  4. Listen, Matzav- you are doing no Yid a favor by posting the picture of this despicable human being. He is scary to look at. If there was a rosho in our days, we’re looking at him. But what happned, then, to histaklus al horosho?

Just post different pictures of the heiligeh niftar. That will certainly be more uplifting and proper for us.

Can I hear from other tayereh yidden who agree with me?

Let’s say no to journalism and say yes to Yiddishe values and precepts!

  5. The American justice system does its job. The Torah has its set of standards.

Jewish people must abide by the Torah standard.

    #2 Shmiras Halashon still applies.

  6. #10, Shmiras Halashon applies??? There is no death penalty in New York, so he will definitely not be getting more than the Torah prescribes. Prison for life would be l’toeles harabbim. You have to know the halachos well and how to apply them properly. Al tatzdik harbeh.
Seriously, your comment is mind-boggling. Would it be lashon harah for any such person to testify for the prosecution? The accused is a confessed murderer of an innocent little boy! True, ein adam meimis atzmo, but we can certainly lock him up for the sake of public safety. Don’t worry, he’ll be well provided for in prison.
Ask a qualified rov. And again, al tatzdik harbeh.

  7. Where did he get these drugs? Was he himself being medicated for psychiatric reasons? And if so, is he maybe really insane?

I’m not defending him, but these are questions that will need to be answered
