pakistan-pervez-musharrafComing back from exile might not seem like such a good idea after all. Pakistani prosecutors said today that they are initiating charges of treason against former president Pervez Musharraf, who has already been charged in four separate cases since his return from exile earlier this year. But the treason charge will up the stakes for Musharraf, since Pakistan has never criminally prosecuted any former leader-much less on charges so serious.

“It is really absurd,” said Talat Masood, a retired general and political commentator. If convicted, Musharraf could be sentenced to the death penalty.

The potential new charges come as increasing turmoil in the country and dissatisfaction with current Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Nine people were killed and 50 more injured Friday in sectarian riots in Rawalphindi, the city next to the capital, Islamabad. Read more at The New York Times.

  1. Oh its good they put him on trial and death penalty. Nawaz and his gang will laugh but they will forget soon the mintue that Israel left Uganda, they destroyed the Ugandan Air Force. Idi Amin was powerless and well he was gone and his money in European banks all seized.

Same thing will happen with Nawaz. He is right now being given all importance and a free hand. As soon as the US is exiting Pakistan they will immediately destroy the nuclear assets, and get rid of Nawaz and IK as they will be powerless.

Then the finances Nawaz has in Western banks will all be gone soon. Looks like Nawaz will be the chicken who will came back to roost as he is the first and last chicken of the whole farm!
