Muslim Brotherhood Head Sentenced to Die

The leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Badie, has been sentenced to death by an Egyptian court, along with 13 other members of the group.

The sentences prescribe death by hanging, though the sentences may be appealed. 34 other defendants were given life in prison over charges of plotting terrorist attacks against state facilities after the country’s first democratically elected president, Mohamed Morsi, was overthrown in 2013.
