New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has asked President Obama to dismantle a Bush-era registry that could be used by President-elect Donald Trump to track Muslims in the U.S. In a letter sent this week, Schneiderman urged Obama to rescind the framework that is a part of the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, known as NSEERS. It was created in 2002 as a way to register men from Arab, South Asian, and Muslim countries entering the U.S.

“We can’t risk giving President-elect Trump the tools to create an unconstitutional religious registry,” Schneiderman said. “We can never allow our nation to return to the dark days of Japanese internment. By finally dismantling the NSEERS program now, President Obama can make a repeat of that horror significantly more difficult.” Read more at the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS.

  1. i don’t understand what’s going on here. every election has a “losing” side. but after the election, i don’t think we ever saw anyone from the “losing side” (an AG, no less!) ever go out of his way and espouse putting stumbling blocks in front of the “winning” President. talk about creating disunity. does this AG Schneiderman think he’s doing anyone a service by giving Obama his suggestion? absolutely not! we are never going to succeed if all we do for the next 4 years is delegitimize Trump. enough already!
