netanyahuIn reaction to violent incidents that took place on Israel’s borders today, Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu said that Israel was determined to defend itself and its sovereignty.

Netanyahu said that the Nakba Day protests were not about the 1967 borders, but rather about “undermining the very existence of Israel.”

‘It’s imporant that we see the reality and know who and what we are dealing with,” he said.

Netanyahu spoke after clashes erupted on the Syrian and Lebanese borders as well as the Palestinian territories on Sunday, as protesters marked Nakba Day, mourning the anniversary of the establishment of Israel.

Netanyahu said that he hoped peace and quiet will return quickly.

The Lebanese army said at least 10 demonstrators were killed as they tried to cross the Israeli border near Maroun a-Ras on Sunday.

Near Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights, a number of protesters succeeded in breaking through the border fence. Two protesters were killed and several dozen more wounded.
