Kol Haolam reports that Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu pledged yesterday to build thousands of new homes in Maaleh Adumim, one of the West Bank’s biggest Jewish communities, and annex it to Israel.
“We will build thousands of housing units here,” he said, referring to the town of about 40,000 people just east of Yerushalayim. “We will add the industrial zone needed and the expansion needed to allow for the advanced development of this place. This place will be part of the state of Israel.” Netanyahu gave no specifics or timetable, suggesting that his comments may have been playing to his base. A Palestinian official called Netanyahu’s comments “totally unacceptable.”
