Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly seeking to lower the electoral threshold in the Knesset as the country’s lawmakers scramble to form viable parties ahead of April elections.

In Israel, where a party can only receive seats in the Knesset if it clears a certain percentage of votes, there is a great deal of pressure on Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition to use its current position to bolster its chances for success April 9. This involves an attempt to lower the required percentage of votes each party must receive in order to gain seats.

Netanyahu’s government reportedly fears further divisions that would benefit the opposition after at least seven right-wing parties have announced Knesset bids.

  1. The reason that they ay as high as they did in the first place was hamstring the Chareidy parties. But for his own benefits, he’ll lower it easily
