New Chief Rabbi for Kfar Chabad

rabbi-meir-ashkenaziHours after the passing of Kfar Chabad’s Chief Rabbi Rav Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi zt”l, a new chief rabbi has been appointed to the post.

The gabboim of the shuls in Kfar Chabad were invited Wednesday evening to the offices of the local city council for an emergency meeting.

At the meeting they signed an agreement to appoint Rav Meir Ashkenazi, son of the late Rav Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi, as the new Chief Rabbi of the Kfar Chabad village.

The official announcement will be made tomorrow at the levaya for the senior Rav Ashkenazi.

Rav Meir, who lives in Tzfas and serves as a rebbi in the yeshiva there, is a son-in-law of Rav Dovid Meir Drukman, rov of the community in Kiryat Motzkin. Rav Meir is one of 9 sons of Rav Ashkenazi zt”l.
