Owners of iPhones who hoped to update their devices to Apple’s new iOS 10 operating system appear to have instead rendered their smartphones unusable. Reports throughout Twitter and reliable tech blogs like BGR show the over-the-air update “bricks” some iPhones and iPad Pros, leaving users with a screen that simply shows a lightning connector and the iTunes logo. BGR reports users then must “manually restore the firmware.”
“There doesn’t appear to be any logic as to which devices get bricked or why,” BGR’s Chris Mills wrote. Apple’s Twitter support account “suggests updating via iTunes at this time.” Read more at BGR.
