rav-scheinberg-8Over the last 60 years, an astonishing body of scholarly work has been produced by Yeshiva Torah Ore of Yerushalayim. In 1951, sefer Tabaas Hachoshen, written by the rosh yeshiva, Rav Chaim Pinchos Scheinberg zt”l, was released to wide acclaim. Since then, numerous seforim on a wide array of topics have been published, both in English and Lashon Kodesh.

Torah Ore is now working on one of its most ambitious publishing projects to date. The yeshiva, under the personal direction of the rosh yeshiva, Rav Simcha Scheinberg, and the rosh chaburah, Rav Yisrael Goleman, is producing a set of Mishnah Berurah that will incorporate over 70 years of insights from Rav Chaim Pinchos Scheinberg zt”l.

Talmidei chachomim are diligently poring through decades of Rav Scheinberg’s personal notes, transcribed drashos and recordings on halacha to collect material for the soon-to-be-published comprehensive work. Rav Goleman had been participating in Rav Scheinberg’s shiur for over five decades.

  1. Maybe we could also use a popular and authoritative work on Choshen Mishpat?

Can we do for Choshen Mishpat what has already been done for Smiras Halashon?

  2. You should learn to have kovod hatorah
and have derech eretz for R’ Scheinberg ztk’l it’s a chuzpah to have such a picture of him. I hope you will change it immediatly

  3. Dr. Middos – What’s wrong with the picture? He’s smiling! From what I’ve heard about him he did a lot of smiling. Evidently he himself didn’t think it was beneath him to be nice to people.

  4. To Shaiget,

Chidushei Basra, isn’t R. Scheinberg’s z”l’s work. It was was written by his son-in-law, ybcl”t R. Chaim Dov Altusky, may he have a refuah sheleimah.

    To Oldtimer,
Perhaps you would like to volunteer and write us such a work on Choshen Mishpat?

If you aren’t capable of writing such a work, would you consider sponsoring the learning and research that needs to be done to produce such a work? If you’re not a person of means, would you volunteer to help organize funds for such a project? The team is ready to go. We just need funding. Please respond.

  5. Dear All, and Especially Dear Poster 3 (Dr. Middos),

Can we not agree to speak to one another with derech eretz? Why would anyone speak with such vitriol and say “You should learn to have kovod hatorah”? Matzav is a website dedicated to kavod hatorah and Jewish values. Perhaps we could all agree to express ourselves with thought and kind speech?

  6. “has been produced by Yeshiva Torah Ore of Yerushalayim. In 1951, sefer Tabaas Hachoshen”

In 1951 Rav Scheinberg ztvk”l was still at Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim where he was MAshgiach for 25years.

I remember seeing mentioned in the beginning of one of the Seforim hakaros hatov to Rav Henach Leibowitz ztvk”l the Rosh HAyeshiva of Chofetz Chaim.

  7. If they are still collecting material and “poring through decades of personal notes”, how could it “soon to be published”?

  8. lkovod choshen mishpat,
i have been looking for a long time to find a teshuvah from harav chaim pinchos zatzal on the inyan of the tefiros on the tefilin shel rosh ripping vchulo. Is there any possible way for you to help me. i can be more specific

  9. #8 – Who are you? Are you an individual or a team? Who are your halachic guides? Are you really prepared to publish a readable commentary on Choshen Mishpat that baalei battim can use – not a bits and pieces list of questions but an in-depth work? Perhaps if a print edition is impracticable, you could publish online?

  10. Oldtimer,

I’m wlling to discuss further, but not in this forum. Please contact me directly at my e-mail:

    Anonymous,

I’m not connected with Yeshiva Torah Ore, and don’t have access to their material. From my own research, I haven’t been able to locate such a teshuva. Do you know if it was ever published? In which venue?

For further inquiries, I can be reached at:
