100-ageJack Cafferty of CNN reports: Imagine taking a pill that could help you live to be 100 years old. Scientists expect such a drug to be ready for testing within three years; and they claim the pill could revolutionize aging. Here’s the deal: Researchers have identified three so-called Supergenes that allow those who have them to live to 100 years.

Two of these genes produce what is referred to as good cholesterol, which reduces the risk of heart disease and strokes. The third gene protects against diabetes.

People born with these three genes are 20 times more likely to reach 100 years old – even if they’re overweight, heavy smokers, have a bad diet or don’t exercise. In other words – they can maintain these unhealthy habits and still live longer. Those with these three genes in their DNA are also 80 percent less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

Now that scientists have identified these Supergenes, they’re trying to develop a pill that will duplicate those genes so anyone can live that long.

Experts say this will eventually mean longer and healthier lives for millions of people.

However, the social implications of something like this are immense. We are already overpopulating the planet. And just think about the costs of Social Security, Medicare, etc. if more and more people start making it to 100.

Here’s the question to you: Would you choose to live to be 100?

  1. People think that the sephardim and mizrahim are closer to our ancestors but to the contrary this supports the Ashkenazi link. But that said anyone who is blessed to live that long should not boast but be thankful to HKBH. I also believe that while Ashkenazi are more pure in blooded because we did not intermarry ( except for the past few hundred years during haskalah) the only reason we merited living so long was because of our fear for Hashem and clinging to the Torah!

  2. At what age do you have to start taking the pill? Id be careful. There’s sure to be side effects and there’s plenty that they don’t know. Mamash gayva trying to play G-d.

  3. to #1

good thing you are anonymous because if I were you, I would not want anyone knowing my name. What you’ve said is so erroneous, its shocking. Where is that information from?
While I myself am Ashkenazic, I know sephardic and yemenite people. They happen to be very pure actually. The yemenite girls, so I was told by a pure yemenite woman, would throw themselves off a cliff if they had no parents and a moslem would want them. And you think that you survived any better than them? There are many very frum and fine sephardics, you just don’t know. Just because you know your own group, doesnt mean that you have enough knowledge to say what you did. That is seriously biased and not ahava yisroel, and just plain uninformed. Check out more.

  4. What’s the Gayva?

    VeRapo Yerape.

If you don’t produce enough good cholesterol why shouldn’t you use this. If you are prone to diabetes why not use this?

Where does it say you have to bleed before it’s considered an illness. Hakadosh Baruch gave us the Sechel to produce these things and then told us we could cure our ills with them.

Wouldn’t you prefer to witness the Geulah then have to wait for Tchiyas Hamesim 🙂

  5. “I also believe that while Ashkenazi are more pure in blooded . . ”

THAT IS PURE AND UNADULTERATED RACISM WORTHY OF THE NAZIS.

I thought that a yiras shamayim Yid, after all that has happened to us since 1933, would know better than to reduce himself to such fascist thoughts.

It is no surprise that commenter #1 chose to remain “Anonymous”; he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself and should do teshuvo.

  6. it will never work… the words of the nevi’im will always ring true…
“The length of our days is seventy years–or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.”
