New Yorkers have one less reason to stress out about parking their car. The Wall Street Journal reports that the New York City Department of Transportation has kicked off a new program that allows drivers to pay for on-street parking remotely with an app that links their license plate numbers to New York Police Department hand-held devices. The program was dubbed ParkNYC.

After entering their license plate number into the app, users load money in increments of $25. They then enter the duration of their parking times and zone numbers displayed on blue street signs to be erected throughout the city.

Drivers nearing their maximum parking times will also be sent notifications and be able to extend their times through the app. THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
