felderNew York – Democrat Simcha Felder has defeated Republican Sen. David Storobin in the race for what is commonly referred to as the super Jewish seat in Brooklyn, a source with the Felder campaign tells Matzav.com.

Yesterday, the NY Daily News reported that Felder has cut a deal with Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Long Island) to conference with the GOP and support Skelos for leader.

Storobin took office this year after winning a special election to fill the seat of convicted Sen. Carl Kruger.

Felder’s reported commitment to caucus with the Republicans could make things interesting if the Democrats win a numerical majority but still not have control of the chamber come January, since the chamber has four dissident Democrats who formed their own independent caucus and will not support current Democratic Leader John Sampson or Michael Gianaris, the Queens senator heading up the Dems campaign efforts.
