They got the wrong date. Slavery in the United States did not end until December 18, 1865 with the announcement of the ratification of the 13th Amendment, which freed the remaining enslaved people in Kentucky (thousands), Delaware (hundreds) and New Jersey (16).
When will authorities put up similar signage in Egypt recognizing the slave labor that build those ancient cities?
That happened prior to the black slaves in the U.S.
