No More Shabbos Roadwork in Israel

0

Recently, religious media released a video filmed by a non-Jew which showed workers using heavy machinery to upgrade Tel Aviv’s Ayalon Highway on Shabbos afternoon. This was after Prime Minister Netanyahu assured UTJ lawmakers a month ago that public infrastructure work such as road repairs would no longer be conducted on Shabbos

Netanyahu told religious MKs that he was unaware of the incident. From now on, he said, Shabbos work would only be implemented for security considerations after receiving the authorization of a panel comprised of four UTJ politicians: Aryeh Deri, Yaakov Litzman, Moshe Gafni and Yisroel Eichler.
