Jerusalem Online reports that the most popular name for Jewish males in the past year was Noam. 1,600 boys were called this name. The most popular name for Jewish girls over the past 15 years has been Noa. 1,478 girls were called this name.
Operation Protective Edge influenced the popular names for boys and, as a result, Eitan ranked seventh place for boys, compared to tenth last year. The names Yehudit and Adelle continue to be popular for girls.
The most popular name for Muslim boys in Israel in 2014 was Mohammed. The most popular name for Muslim girls is Maryam.
