North and South Korea ‘Agree to Talks’

noth-and-south-koreaNorth Korea’s no. 2 leader and other high-ranking officials paid a visit to South Korean officials on Shabbos in what amounted to the two countries’ highest-level in-person talks in five years.

No major breakthrough seems to have come from the meeting, but both countries agreed to hold another round of talks between the end of October and the beginning of November. The North Korean delegation was led by Hwang Pyong So, the top political officer for the Korean People’s Army.

Supreme leader Kim Jong-un, who was not been seen in public since Sept. 4, was nowhere to be seen. Read more at CNN.
