Norway on Wednesday slammed the Israeli decision to cancel the presence of international observers in Chevron, arguing the move could mean Israel has nulled a piece of the landmark 1994 Oslo Accords.

Israel announced its decision not to extend the TIPH (Temporary International Presence in Hebron) mandate on Monday, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accusing the group of “acting against Israel,” without elaborating on specific complaints.

Norway, which has lead the international observer mission for the past 22 years, said “the one-sided Israeli decision can mean that the implementation of an important part of the Oslo accords is discontinued.”

  1. What part of “temporary” don’t the Norwegians understand? Temporary means “lasting for only a limited period of time; not permanent”. The observers were in Chevron for 22 years. Twenty two years is longer than temporary. Therefore, Israel was well within her rights to throw them out.
