NRA Responds To Boycott Movement After United And Delta Cut Ties

The National Rifle Association lashed out at corporations rushing to abandon it on Saturday, as companies from United Airlines to Best Western have cut ties with the gun lobby group under pressure from a boycott movement following a Feb. 14 high school shooting.

“Delta is reaching out to the NRA to let them know we will be ending their contract for discounted rates through our group travel program. We will be requesting that the NRA remove our information from their website,” the airline announced on Twitter.

“United is notifying the NRA that we will no longer offer a discounted rate to their annual meeting and we are asking that the NRA remove our information from their website,” United said on Twitter.

In abandoning the NRA, the airlines followed car rental giants Avis, Hertz and Enterprise, the Best Western hotel chain, the global insurance company MetLife, and more than a dozen other corporations that have severed affiliations with the gun group in the last two days.

In a statement released Saturday afternoon, the group accused companies of “a shameful display of political and civic cowardice.”

“Let it be absolutely clear. The loss of a discount will neither scare nor distract one single NRA member from our mission to stand and defend the individual freedoms that have always made America the greatest nation in the world.”

  1. As an open Orthodox Jew and a member of the NRA, I am tired of these liberals. These sick liberals want to take away the guns from decent citizens but allow criminals their run loose. What don’t they support the death penalty.

  2. Interesting how the NRA does not accept any responsibility for the gun violence by still preaching second amendment rights. They should be getting the message by seeing all these reputable businesses and organizations distancing from them and their false agenda! The second amendment was meant to give individuals certain rights , BUT (here’s the clincher ) not when it diminishes the safety and unnecessarily endangers society at large – eg. Thru the proliferation of killing machines !!!

  3. I was waiting for the NRA to finally implode They were taking a man made document and touting it as if it is a sacred G-D given right to own any kind of weapon at any age. When the NRA advocates the right to own military and other such weapons and not raise the age to buy a weapon, they lost their credibility. Most people now see the NRA as a radical extremist group There were so many mass shooting by people who bought guns legally in the last number of years that the lie of the NRA finally and hopefully continues to collapse.

  4. No cowardice here. It is the NRA who are the cowards – not getting the hint that their agenda by quoting the second amendment as their bible…Yes , the second amendment grants certain rights BUT ( here’s the clincher) it was not intended to harm or endanger societies by allowing the proliferation of killing machines that threaten the lives of innocents!!! Shame on NRA!!Time to realize their false interpretation of these rights!!!

  5. NRA are the cowards for not admitting the flaw of their claim – protecting the second amendment…Yes the second amendment protects the rights of individuals , BUT (here’s the clincher) not when that right is used to create easy access to killing machines of innocent individuals who are robbed of their promising future..Time for the NRA to recognize this and to stop bribing politicians to advance their illogical agenda!
