nys-capitolOpponents of the to’eivah marriage bill that’s expected to take a step forward in New York’s Legislature say the measure portrayed as a civil right for some would violate the rights of others. They say a marriage law would unnecessarily force others to accept a political redefinition of wedlock, while missing a chance to protect couples rights through civil unions.

The state Assembly is expected to pass the bill by late today. It would then be up to the Senate to make New York the sixth state to legalize to’eivah marriage.

  1. Let’s give a special thank you to Sheldon Silver for having this chilul hashem of a bill passed. He is such a disgrace and not worth whatever favors he does for the Jewish community.
