oskar-schindlerA New York judge has allowed a memorabilia dealer to sell what he claims is an original copy of Schindler’s list at an auction, The Telegraph newspaper reported Sunday. According to the report, the document is said to be one of many original copies of lists that Oskar Schindler compiled during his work to save over 1,000 Jews during the Holocaust.

The original copy can now be sold after a temporary ban was lifted that prevented the sale of the list for more than $2 million dollars.

Supreme Court Justice Loius York lifted the ban, allowing members of the public to purchase the lists.

An heir to Schindler’s widow had previously attempted to block the sale, the report suggested.

Oskar Schindler is credited with saving nearly 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust by employing them in his factories so they would escape being sent to death camps.
