A large asifa to protest the drafting of bnei yeshiva in Eretz Yisroel into the Israeli army had been set to take place this coming Sunday, 3 Sivan/May 28, at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
At the present time, the event has been canceled.
It is unclear whether the protest will take place at another time or if it has been called off for good.
Those who expressed their opposition to the protest included Rav Aharon Teitelbaum of Satmar, who vehemently called out those who cause mayhem in Eretz Yisroel unnecessarily.

Do R’ Aharon Teitelbaum’s comments mean that a gadol actually came out against the protests in E”Y or did I read that wrong? If so, I’m delighted, but who would have thought it would be the Satmar Rov who would come out against the violent protests by bored people who don’t even know what they’re protesting about.

מול ‘ועד הישיבות’, הגוף האחראי לדחיית השירות בצה”ל לכל בני הישיבות, מתקיימות הפגנות של קנאי העדה החרדית, הטוענים הוועד פשרני מדי ומוותר לצבא. אבל אחד מהם מקפיד להגיע להפגין מדי יום ביומו מול משרדי הוועד.
בתגובה לאותו מפגין שהגיע למקום, יצא אליו מהבניין מר. קליין העמלקי אחד העובדים שם (לשם – ש מ ד) להשמיד להרוג ולאבד עם ישראל, והתיז לעברו חומצה. לאחר מכן הכה אותו מכת רצח דהיינו רציחה ממש, עם מקל הגדול השלט שנשא המפגין.
מוועד [ש מ ד] הישיבות נמסר בתגובה בשקר גלוי לחדשות 2, כי צר להם על השתלשלות האירועים, אך לדבריהם המשקרים ואמרים שמדובר באדם המעורער בנפשו שמתפרץ באלימות פיזית ומילולית כלפי אנשים שמגיעים למשרדיהם. לטענתם, לא פנו למשטרה עד כה בשל מצבו והתיעוד לא משקף את המצב מפני שגם הם חווים את זעמו. ולכן אשר קליין רצה להרגו ממש.

To Baited breath #1: I too am a Matzav user, and I personally appreciate the fact that politics and loshon hora is left out of Matzav stories. I guess your ideals may come from the secular perspective that everything should be out in the open. Personally, Matzav is the site I go to first, precisely because of the respect they have for Torah ideals, including choosing to focus on the best of goings-on in Klal Yisroel, not the most sensational. To me that is strength in reporting not weakness.
