rabbi frand siyum hashasThe NY Times reports: Nearly 90,000 Orthodox Jews bowed their heads in communal prayer at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday night to open what rabbis hailed as the largest celebration of Jewish learning since the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Yet for the estimated 20,000 women praying in the stadium’s top tier, the moment felt private, as well as public.

  1. This article of the New York Times should not be linked to a website as yours.
This is not our mesora and instigates the wrong hashkofos.

  2. This article from the New York Times should not be linked to this website.
It instigates the wrong hashkofos and is anti the Mesora we have from our forebearers.

  3. As is typical, the NYT did a fantastic job of completely missing the point. The comments were also exceedingly “special”. May the NYT’s losses continue to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars quarterly for the foreseeable future.

  4. It’s a shame (though not unexpected) that the Times chose to focus on the mechitza and whether or not women should learn gemara when there was so much else about this event that they didn’t cover.

I was most impressed by how many of the speakers, both live and on the video presentations, underscored that the wives’ role is essential in the success of their husbands’ limud haTorah.

  5. Opening paragraph dripping with hate. Who would want to read further…

But in a way, the more an event is covered with open hate, the more we know we really nailed it!

  6. What a silly and disappointing article. For an event of this magnitude, celebrating the astonishing power of Jewish learning, the author can’t put her bias aside for one moment and focus on the event itself. She has to stick her feminist agenda front and center, and make the whole article about the repression of women and their apparent second class status. I shouldn’t be surprised at anything emanating from the NYT, but one would suppose that even a pretense of objectivity would be something the paper would strive for, especially as they are losing readers and money hand over fist for coverage such as this.

  7. The NY Times is a very anti orthodox paper, always trying to make us look weird and portraying us in the worst light possible. They took a newsworthy story of a historic religious convention and devoted more than half the story to whether women are treated equal or not. They are consistently nti Israel. They are trash and should not be quoted or linked to.

  9. Leave it to the NYT to distort the whole picture!!

And if you want to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are goyim and don’t have a real understanding, read the previous article from the star ledger. They did a MUCH better job!

  10. Why do you glorify the Treif New York Times? What do you care what goyim think about us? We should be proud of ourselves. We don’t need goyish approval!
