beck-limbaughKeith Olbermann was far from alone among prominent liberal voices  tying the shooting in Arizona to conservative media figures. New York Times columnist Paul Krugman wrote on his blog hours after the shooting that Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh have contributed to a “climate of hate”:

You know that Republicans will yell about the evils of partisanship whenever anyone tries to make a connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc. and the violence I fear we’re going to see in the months and years ahead. But violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate. And it’s long past time for the GOP’s leaders to take a stand against the hate-mongers.

Krugman later disabled the comments on the post.

  1. Wasn’t Keith Olbermann the guy who said someone should kill President Bush. Could be mistaken but this man’s rhetoric is anything but mild.

  2. What about the comments on Kos where one blogger said that Gilfords was dead to him?

Have you ever read the hateful and murderous comments on Huffington Post?

    This is more Leftist drivel.

  3. It seems that not only had this person exhibited erratic behavior prior to this incident, but this particular assailant had prior interactions with this Congresswoman.

  4. Palin was also blamed by these leftists.

To insinuate that Palin had any part in this is obscene and offensive. A political action committee’s job is to TARGET issues or races that they feel they have enough influence to potentially sway. So when a political action committee uses the word ‘target’ it is very different from a militia using that word. If the journalists are indeed alleging that Palin’s organization is a militia, then the media have reached a new low.

Let me be clear, I very much dislike Obama. Now, if someone reads the previous sentence and then seeks to harm Obama, does that make ME culpable in his attempt to commit a crime against the president? Well if you ask, Olberman, Krugman and the dozen’s of other liberal fascists they have already respond yes (via their condemnations of Palin). THAT’S what’s truly scary. Not that there are several violent nut-jobs in a country of 300 million plus, for that is to be expected.

Scapegoating is what led to 6,000,000 dead Jews in Europe, and Krugman, a Jew, ought to be ashamed of himself. As a novel idea, how about Loughner was responsible?

  5. No matter which side is sprouting hate. When you constantly calling for the death of someone else it is bound to happen. As a man thinketh so shall it be. It does not matter if liberals said something 5 years ago. The problem is what is being said now.

  6. I don’t agree with Limbaugh or Beck most of the time but the people who do this kind of stuff already have mental problems and are just looking for an excuse. Of course you can link people who believe in conspiracy theories to far-right/far-left talk show hosts or politicians but those few conspiracy theorists who commit violent acts do so without regard to what anyone else has to say. “Toning down the rhetoric” may contribute to a healthier political climate but the real nutjobs like Loughner who are divorced from political participation entirely will still do the same things with a healthy climate or not.

  7. why do these people have any relevance? Someone’s opinion only means something to those that are willing to listen to it. Evil Begets Evil. Reject evil and be kind to one another.

  8. Everyone, even the most inbred teabagger knows that it’s all tje fault of the right. All violence in America is. It’s easy to see. Any attempt to compare the left ro the right as far as level of violence within rhetoric is BS and is totally desperate denial.

  9. “First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out– because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out– because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out– because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out– because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me– and there was no one left to speak out for me.” is just one of many variations of a poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group.

It continues to amaze me how “willfully” ignorant many bleeding hearts are about our Constitutional rights!

When the Nazi’s confiscated the weapon’s from good up standing Jews, the Polish citizens didn’t make a fuss. Then one day, they came for their guns.

The TRUTH that we all subconsciously fear more than anything, is the “direction” that this is all going. No, they may not be knocking on your door and asking you to turn over all of your handguns; not yet at least, but we all know what is in their mind… and we can see the hand writing on the wall.

Of course, like Martin Niemöller, we cowardly cover up our public voice because it’s the communist or the guy with a previous felony. It’s the socialists, that other guy… not me.

The question we REFUSE to ask ourselves for fear of KNOWING what it would mean to our future… the future of our children and this noble nation which was built on the principles of “individual” freedom is… WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY COME FOR MY GUNS?

The sad truth is… if/when that day should come, there will no longer be a need for a voice to speak out, because there will no longer be an ear to hear that voice.

And that my friend, is a government that I fear above all things. A world I don’t ever want to live in, and one that I would not wish upon my worst enemy. GOD SAVE US!
