NYC Makes the SAT Free for All Students

satAll New York City public school students will be able to take the SAT for free and during the school day, under a new policy announced by Chancellor Carmen Fariña.

Officials said the plan hopes to ease some of the barriers low-income students face in applying to college. States like Connecticut, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Wisconsin already require students to take a college admissions test for graduation.

Only 56 percent of New York City students take the exam. Read more at The New York Times.
