NYC to Resume Trash Collection On Monday

garbage_truckNew York City officials are asking residents to dig out their garbage so trash collection can resume Monday, a week after the big blizzard. Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty today asked that residents also clear a path through remaining snow banks so collectors can get to the trash.Residents can also put out their discarded Christmas trees.

Trash collection was suspended in the city all week while sanitation crews struggled to plow streets. New York has enough road to stretch to Los Angeles and back.

No date has been set for recycling collections to resume.

The city says only people who ordinarily get their trash picked up on Monday should put out their pails.

Collections have already resumed at some larger apartment complexes.
