nypd4The New York Police Department has dramatically cut down on arrests since two of its own were murdered in cold blood. In the past two weeks, overall arrests have fallen 66 percent compared to the same period last year.

During that same time, traffic tickets and summons for minor offenses have fallen a whopping 94 percent year-over-year.

Police sources told the New York Post that the drop in activity was mostly fueled by safety concerns, but part of the motive was a slowdown to protest Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“This is not a slowdown for slowdown’s sake. Cops are concerned, after the reaction from City Hall on the Garner case, about de Blasio not backing them,” said a source. Read more at New York Post.

  1. As horrible as the two innocent policemen assassination is, at least the little men with big egos that comprise the majority of contemporary police departments have some fear put into them too. Oh, and don’t tell me that the police is there to protect the life and the property of a regular citizen – that might have been decades ago – now the primary purpose of the police is to bully the law-abiding citizens with big government over-regulations, fines and tickets, and too often breaking law with impunity.

  2. “…don’t tell me that the police is there to protect the life and the property of a regular citizen…”

It’s true whether you are smart enough to perceive it or not.

  3. Naive does not necessarily mean smart enough. Trying to insult others as opposed to arguing on the substance, is a definite sign you are not smart enough.
