A senior White House adviser said Friday that President Obama will take “very significant” executive action on immigration once summer ends- which may provoke impeachment proceedings.
“The president acting on immigration reform will certainly up the likelihood that [Republicans] would contemplate impeachment at some point,” said Obama senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer.
There’s a rising chorus of “impeach!” among Republicans running for office. House Speaker John Boehner has said he disagrees with those who support the idea, but the GOP-controlled House is expected to pass a resolution next week to sue the president for executive overreach (on the Affordable Care Act).
Meanwhile, Pfeiffer says, the border kids has increased “the urgency” the public feels in fixing it, giving the administration “broad permission” to take action. Read more at the Christian Science Monitor.
