Peres worked with every US president since John F. Kennedy. Obama, in a statement said that “no one did more over so many years as Shimon Peres to build the alliance between our two countries. A light has gone out, but the hope he gave us will burn forever.”

The levayah is slated to be held on Erev Shabbos at 10 a.m. at Har Herzel in Yerushalayim.

Officials are already meeting to plan the logistics of what is expected to be a massive funeral, with the participation of the leaders of France, England, Canada, Germany, Mexico and the United Nations.

Dozens of planes will be arriving from all over the world for the levayah.

Kevurah will take place at the cemetery on Har Herzl.
