obamaPresident Barack Obama laid out a reform plan for the criminal justice system while speaking at a NAACP convention in Philadelphia on Tuesday, asking Congress to pass a sentencing reform bill by the end of 2015.

Obama’s plan includes limiting the use of solitary confinement, allowing voting rights for felons, and reducing or tossing out mandatory minimum sentences.

“Mass incarceration makes our entire country worse off, and we need to do something about it,” he said.

Obama will become the first sitting president to visit a federal prison on Thursday as part of a White House focus on the criminal justice system this week. Read more at CBS News.
