obamaPresident Barack Obama welcomed the agreement between world powers and Iran as “an important first step toward a comprehensive solution” on Iran’s nuclear program, as critics began expressing doubts about the deal, which slightly eases sanctions while requiring new concessions from Tehran.

“For the first time in nearly a decade, we have halted the progress of the Iranian nuclear program,” Obama said in the State Dining Room of the White House. The agreement, he added, has “cut off Iran’s most likely paths to a bomb.” Read more.
