Sorry, officers. President Obama will announce limits on the type of military-style equipment available to America’s police. After broad public criticism of the response to riots in Ferguson, Missouri, cops will be banned from using weaponized aircraft, tanks, bayonets, and grenade launchers.
Obama initially planned to continue supplying the gear, but the AP reports that an interagency group “found ‘substantial risk of misusing or overusing’ items like tracked armored vehicles, high-powered firearms, and camouflage could undermine trust in police.”
The federal government will also stop supplying weaponized vehicles, heavy-duty weapons of .50-caliber or higher, explosives, and battering rams. Read more.

I am wondering if he supports “stop and frisk” policing which would help to also get these types of weapons out of the hands of criminals.
Obama is advancing his quest to de-fang our the people who put their lives on the line daily to protect us.
well do you want police to have every weapon there is?The military has alot of weapons including directed energy weapons such as sonic weapons and heat weapons.Should they be in the hands of every person and police? no. if they use that on crowds it will burn people.They give out alot of these newer technology type of weapons(invisible bullet weapons) to some police to use on crowds and it can be deadly.So they do need to be limited on what technology can be used on people,But criminals and military guys steal these weapons anyways and use them on people or to secretly harm their neighbor and the neighbor doesn’t know where the burns are coming from. You don’t want these new invisible bullet military weapons in the hands of the wrong people but it already is. But limiting or banning such advanced military weapons to be used by police is a step in the right direction to totally banning them,They do a lot of damage to people.
