obama2[Video here.] Following a bloodbath for Democrats in Tuesday’s midterms, President Obama faced the press – and the music – at the White House today.

“What stands out to me is that the American people sent a message: They expect the people they elect to work as hard as they do. They want us to get the job done. All of us, in both parties, have a responsibility to address that sentiment,” Obama said, adding that it’s his responsibility to make Washington work.

The president mentioned specific goals for the next two years that he believes should receive bipartisan support, including raising the minimum wage. “In the five states where a minimum wage increase was on the ballot, voters went five for five to increase it,” he said. Obama also said he will request more funding to fight Ebola and ask Congress for new authorization to fight ISIS. “It’s time for us to take care of business,” he said. “There are things this country had to do that can’t wait another two years or four years.”

Mitch McConnell, the next Republican majority leader in the Senate, said Wednesday he was hoping to find common ground with Obama, albeit with a different agenda, apparently. Read more at the New York Times.
