Obama Prayer BreakfastPresident Barack Obama stirred outraged with his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast Thursday, comparing the atrocities committed by ISIS to those of Christians “in the name of C—-.”

“Unless we get on our high horse and think that this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of C—–,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of C——.”

“So it is not unique to one group or one religion,” Obama said. “There is a tendency in us, a simple tendency that can pervert and distort our faith.”

The comments drew swift reaction.

Appearing on “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV, conservative commentator Pat Buchanan fumed at Obama comparing the extreme barbarity of ISIS to the Crusades.

“He’s trying to give them all equivalence to what happened in the 11th century to what’s happening today? It’s astonishing,” Buchanan said.

“The whole idea of the Inquisition in Spain – I mean these things are hundreds of years ago. That was a 30-year war long, long ago.

“I can’t think of any atrocities that have really been committed in the name of Christ … There’s no justification anywhere in all the books of the New Testament for any kind of violence on the scale of what we just saw with that Jordanian pilot.”

  1. People have use religion as way to push a political agenda. However it is true that many people have done terrible things in name of religion. But at least we can look at our basic principles of faith and biblical truth and get corrected. Not such a thing by Islam. Killing is glorious for Islam.

  2. This time, oBeheimeh happens to be 10000% RIGHT!.

plenty yidden were burnt at the stake during the Inqusition…and all in the name of yoshke pondrik…

  3. Obama beeing far from a tzadik but at least someone is saying it. I mean did these Christians ever read the asara hrugay malchus?

  4. Pres. Obama has a true point here…But it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be fought.
Buchanan says: “He can’t think of any atrocities committed in the name of …”
What kind of preposterous statement is that???
    We better do Teshuva

  5. I thought he kept saying that the behavior of the terrorists is NOT the Islam religion itself, & it has nothing to do with Islam, and we shouldn’t call it Islam. But he seems to be saying that the atrocities committed by Christians WAS in the name of the Christian religion. He can’t have it both ways.

  6. The horrors that the Christians did happened hundreds of years ago. Not to miminize it at all, but what the Muslims are doing is happening NOW, TODAY. How is blaming the Christians going to stop the terror of TODAY’S Muslims????

  7. Buchanan is an antisemite who vociferously defended nazis prosecuted for war crimes and is also a partial holocaust denier. View anything he says through this spectrum.

President Obama’s history lesson is correct, but it has nothing to do with today’s situation. If ISIS, Hamas, Hezbola, Iran and other bad actors worshiped the Great Pumpkin it wouldn’t diminish the depravity of their acts, the absolute evil of their goals, or the importance of stopping them.

  8. okay, what he’s saying essentially is that isis et al are still stuck in the 11th century.
The fact is currently the civilized world is mostly non-muslim.

  9. Firstly, most of the commentators are correct. The President spoke some words of truth regarding the inquisition r”l.

Now what was the reason for the speech?

Religion may be good for some , but it has been bad to too many.

Ipso facto, lets not go and condemn the MUSLIMS and ISLAM.

The message behind the message: The concept of belief is retrograde.
Not helpful and not liberal and not progressive or humanistic– all qualities that the President is a paradigm of. The best the modern world has to offer!

The President is not anything of the above.

He denigrates the CREATOR by showing how belief -and absolute belief – i.e. radical belief is no good etc.

What he really does is hide the unmitigated disaster of COMMUNISM Red China, Former USSR, North Korea, Nazi Germany and the (hundreds of ) millions enslaved, tortured, killed, by the tyrannically obsessed atheist from throughout the many centuries.

So, before you embrace the TRUTH in what President Obama stated, know at least from whence it comes and how it is presented to compromise EMUNAH B”HASHEM.

  10. Sorry folks. Obama threw a red herring out there and many of you fell for it. It is true that the Christian church for centuries was as brutal as islam is today. No question about it.

However, that is so not relevant. He accomplished two things with this trick. Liberals are swooning over his comment and conservatives are making fools of themselves.

But let’s get real. Today, and for the past fifty years or so, there is absolutely no comparison. The ONLY religion in the world today preaching hate, death, and destruction is the peace loving religion of islam. They sow evil and carnage wherever they go. The only muslims who are peaceful are the less religious ones.

Let’s also bear in mind that unlike European christianity with its long history of hatred and persecution, American christianity has been relatively benign. Obama talks about Jim Crow. Christianity had as much to do with abolitionism and civil rights and it had to do with slavery and Jim Crow. Besides, nothing in the pre-bellum era compares to the atrocities of ISIS.

So Mr. President. You can fool a lot of people a lot of the time. But speaking of religious figures, remember the words of Pastor Niemöller. ISIS wants everybody.

  11. “I can’t think of any atrocities that have really been committed in the name of C…

This is because he does not take the yidn into account as Normal people…

I agree that you cannot compare what happened hundreds of years ago to what happens today with the possibility we have to “see” at the moment what’s happening all over the world. And when most of it think this atrocities are things of the past. But the true is that this chayes never developed, they stayed in the middle ages.
