President Obama and the Dalai Lama appeared together at a public event for the first time, despite objections from the Chinese government. Obama praised the Dalai Lama during the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, calling him a “powerful example of what it means to practice compassion” and a “good friend.”
China has called the Dalai Lama a dangerous separatist and objects to any presidential meeting with him. Read more at USA Today.
