obama2Americans think sitting President Barack Obama is the nation’s worst leader since the last World War, according to a poll released this week.

A third of Americans singled-out Obama as their least favorite president since 1945 in Quinnipiac University’s latest presidential poll, just ahead of George W. Bush, who received 28 percent of the vote.

In a head-to-head match-up between the two most recent presidents, Bush and Obama, Bush narrowly came out the victor, with 40 percent of survey-takers saying he was a better president than Obama and 39 percent saying he was worse.

‘Over the span of 69 years of American history and 12 presidencies, President Barack Obama finds himself with President George W. Bush at the bottom of the popularity barrel,’ Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement.

Ranked in order of how bad Americans say they were, the 12 presidents included in the survey were: Obama, Bush, Richard Nixon,  Jimmy Carter, Lyndon Johnson, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy.

Americans told Quinnipiac the best man to serve as leader of the free world since WWII was Reagan, a former Hollywood actor who held the office of the president for two terms from 1981- 1989.

Reagan took a solid 35 percent of the vote, beating out his closest competitor, Clinton, by 17 points.

Clinton, who was impeached by Congress during his second term, was selected by 18 percent of the poll’s takers as their favorite.

Fellow president John F. Kennedy came in third with 15 percent of the vote.

Obama’s favorability ratings were underwater in nearly every issue area Quinnipiac asked voters about except the environment.

The president scored below 50 percent on healthcare, the economy, terrorism and foreign policy.

Respondents were clear about their disapproval of the president’s signature law Obamacare. The nays beat out the yeas by 12 points.

Questions about the way Obama was doing his job overall were also met with bad news for the president.

A majority, 53 percent, said they did not approve of the job he was doing, while 40 percent they approved.

Likewise, 51 percent said Obama does not have ‘strong leadership qualities,’ compared to the 47 percent of respondents who said he does.

Americans were split over whether they could trust Obama, with 48 percent answering in the affirmative and 48 percent answering in the negative.

  1. Obama is like gist for duck soup. You can watch him work, you can laugh with his heart, but how can you tie your tie with his eyes in your mind? Ultimately, Mr. Obama is just a bad cake at an obscure wedding. And I predict no one wants to see the wrong marriage in our future between austerity and unknown spirit.

let us analyze your deep insights and look for some bit of meaning.
Obama is like gist for duck soup. What is “gist”? i thought it meant :the main point concisely stated” You can watch him work, you can laugh with his heart, but how can you tie your tie with his eyes in your mind? can you tie your tie with anyone else’s “eye in your mind”? Ultimately, Mr. Obama is just a bad cake at an obscure wedding. True enough! And I predict no one wants to see the wrong marriage in our future between austerity and unknown spirit.Huh? the predictability of the lack of consonance in your repeated writings indicates a mind that craves contact with a semblance of human thought but struggles valiantly to express coherently fathomable ideas.veering back and forth between nouns that must strain in vain to reach a concensus of common language, the effect is breathtaking in its cacophonous echo, similar to a dimly lit lamp surging through a violent flow of murky water on a balmy day in a jungle of unintended relapses.

  3. Obama is pretty bad but is he worse than L. Johnson? And what is most amazing is the supposed “less worst” JFK, the one most responsible for Vietnam, the one who risked triggering a global nuclear war (thank you Soviets, there have been a thing or two you did right), the one whose incompetence was only limited by the tragic ending to his term. It seems to me that most poll responders don’t remember (being young is not their fault) and don’t know history (being ignorant is partly their fault but schools and parents did not do their job either).

Also it’s amusing they credit President Obama with the environment. He sure talks a lot, but shale extraction skyrocketed to levels which before his terms, few people envisioned let alone dared talking about.

  4. Anonymous – are drunk when you wrote these rants? Your flowery diction is misguided and farther out of place.

  5. i love your comments. you have a real way with words… to the point that most times i have no idea WHAT you’re saying… but again, that’s the earmark of a good writer isnt it? Keep it up!!

  6. Perhaps you are correct and perhaps my comments are not meant for your captive ear. But perhaps I am jewish and have a jewish voice. And then perhaps I have studied in depth and have an insight. But if you want to criticize me for listing to the feelings I think that Torah directs me to learn, you are just shutting out your own favorability if Torah is involved. I can not know what I must write until I feel that I have the insight, but I do keep Torah in my soul and I keep Hashem in my heart. Sorry if its a difficult process. I consider myself to be abstract and educated. When you talk in figurative sense, you are speaking with the same training that is discussed in Torah. It took Rashi to understand many of the Torah passages. Perhaps you need to get more experience and I can help you with my own world someday but I am not here for public advice. I just want to say something and I want to be figurative. And that makes me understand Torah, Hashem and my own world better. In person, I am straight forward. Its just a blessing to be able to write online sometimes. Sorry its terrible. Maybe I will be brief in the future.

  7. As Charlie Hall has Obama in his top five Presidentes of all-time, he’ll claim it’s nothing more than what wert (#3) wrote. Obama is successful at remaking America, which is very sad since we have been the greatest country in the world. To tweak is one thing, to “remake” is scary. For the number one superpower in the world to “remake” itself can only mean to not want to be the number one superpower in the world. Idiotic

  8. If anyone is seriously blaming Obama’s abysmal ranking in this poll on Bush or “the crazy extreme right wingers who are constantly spewing the most ridiculous propaganda about Obama,” you really need to get a clue, because you’re completely out of touch with reality and the past 6 years. I voted for him in 2008 with my full support and confidence, and, even with my gut and better judgement telling me otherwise, I voted for him again in 2012, unfortunately. Not that my one vote would’ve made a difference, but that was a terrible mistake, because I gave him the benefit of the doubt on way to many issues and questions. Basically, I trusted him, and I now realize that he doesn’t deserve my trust. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, in my opinion, and with everything that has come to light about his administration, all the liies and truth about Obanacare, and all of the continued revelations about different scandals since his reelection, he’s without a doubt the worst president since WW2. And he just may go down as one of the worst presidents ever, which is a real tragedy for the promise he once showed, the overwhelming enthusiasm people had for him, and the potential good he could’ve done for helping to ease race relations, instead of further dividing the country along every line possible -race, gender, religious, class, etc. He completely squandered an incredible opportunity as the first black president.

  9. I’m no fan pf Obama but in fairness whoever is in power at the moment is always going to have the most people hating him.LBJ was a terrible president but he is too out of sight and mind for people to hate him.
