obamaIn a wide-ranging speech that delineated the evolution of intelligence gathering by the U.S, President Obama addressed the changes he is proposing to the National Security Agency in the wake of leaks by contractor Edward Snowden.

The president outlined four major reforms to the spy agency, including plans to stop the interception of private electronic communications of “dozens” of foreign presidents and prime ministers.

“The task before us now is greater than simply repairing the damage done to our operations,” he said. “Given the unique power of the state, it is not enough for leaders to say: trust us, we won’t abuse the data we collect.” Read more.
