babiesFour sisters from one family have each given birth within four days. That’s four sisters, four babies, four days. The same doctor delivered the babies of three of the sisters – 27-year-old Lilian Sepulveda, 29-year-old Saby Pazos and 24-year-old Leslie Pazos – in the same suburban Chicago hospital on Friday and Shabbos. A fourth sister, Heidi Lopez, gave birth on Monday in California.

Family members said the women didn’t plan the timing. Dr. Jean Alexandre, who delivered the three babies in suburban Chicago, calls the births “very unusual but wonderful at the same time.”

  1. For the record, @Kiddush#10 it’s not so clear that these kids don’t have some Jewish origins.

Lopez is a Jewish surname. Aaron Lopez and his family arrived in Newport around 1750 from New York via Lisbon, Portugal. Lopez arrived in the new world as a member of a “Marrano” family with the Christian name of “Don Duarte Lopez.” Lopez immediately dropped his Christian name and took the Hebrew name of Aaron and submitted to ritual circumcision. Within twenty years, Lopez owned or had interests in over 80 sailing vessels. Lopez was also one of the original founders and contributors of Touro Synagogue and by the end of his life was recognized as one of the “Merchant Princes” of early America.

And from the internet, Louis Sepulveda had this to say” “I recently went to Spain on business and made a point of going to the village of Sepulveda which is located app. 120 kilometers north of Madrid in the region of Castilla Y Leon. Sepulveda is a midevil village dating back to app. 200 BC. When there I spoke with a lady at the tourist office. She told me the legend of the Sepulvedas. Basicaly there were no Sepulvedas until around the 10th or 11th century when Jews were beginning to suffer persecution in Spain. In order to escape persecution and to remain in Spain, many Jews took other, no Jewish names. There apparently was a family living in Sepulveda who took the name of the town as their surname. From that point the Sepulvedas began. So in effect, all Sepulvedas are distantly related. I plan to return to Sepulveda Spain in November to learn more.”

Pazos is also similar in sound to some Jewish surnames…
