It is Erev Rosh Hashanah. We are preparing for the day that will determine what our upcoming year will be like.

Out of curiosity, I took a look at some of the headlines here on Matzav.com from one year ago. I saw one titled “Can Herman Cain Deliver an Upset?”

Herman Cain. Remember him?

Of course you do, but so much has gone on during the last twelve months that it is hard to remember that Cain was at one point considered a frontrunner for the GOP nomination for president.

It is truly amazing how much takes place during the course of a year.

Herman Cain. Rick Perry. So many others. Today, they are not even blips on the radar screen.

So much transpires. So much develops. Those who were up can go down, and those who were down can reach the pinnacle.

Tomorrow is the day it all happens.

The race for the presidency of the United States won’t be decided in November. It will be decided tomorrow and Tuesday.

Lehavdil, the stories of our lives for the coming year won’t be decided as the year progresses. They will be decided tomorrow and Tuesday.

Our health, our parnosa, our children’s futures, our successes and failures won’t be decided during the months ahead. They will be decided tomorrow and Tuesday.

Those who grace the proverbial headlines today may be the Herman Cains next Erev Rosh Hashanah.

And those who are at the bottom today, struggling with any number of challenges and nisyonos, can be catapulted to success and peace during the coming year.

It all comes down to tomorrow and Tuesday.

It is judgment day in every sense of the word.

May we all merit a kesiva v’chasima tova. May all of Klal Yisroel be granted a year of peace and tranquility, personally and communally.

And may we see the geulah soon.

Ah gutten Yom Tov.
