Today, the leadership of the Orthodox Union rejected recent comments made by Democratic presidential hopeful Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) about Israel.

In several public statements over the weekend, Senator Sanders expressed his view that the United States must pursue a “more balanced approach” between the Israelis and the Palestinians and that he believes that Israel’s war of self-defense against Hamas in 2014 was “disproportionate.”

The leadership of the Orthodox Union stated:

“The Orthodox Union rejects Senator Sanders’ assertion that Israel acted in a ‘disproportionate’ manner in responding to Hamas terrorist actions; frankly, we are offended by Senator Sanders’ suggestion. In 2014, Israel was attacked by Hamas, which fired more than 4,500 rockets and mortars from Gaza at Israel. These rockets were intended to murder and maim innocent Israelis.”

“Moreover, Israeli forces discovered and destroyed 34 tunnels terrorist groups had created to kidnap Israeli soldiers, invade Israeli civilian communities and wreak havoc. And, Hamas engaged in a documented practice of placing its terrorist personnel and materiel within schools, mosques and other civilian areas. In the face of all this, Israel’s response and tactics were anything but disproportionate or indiscriminate. Indeed, we take pride in the extraordinary efforts the Israel Defense Forces undertake – often yielding risks to its own soldiers – to avoid collateral civilian casualties.”

The Orthodox Union is a non-partisan organization and does not endorse or oppose candidates for elective office.

  1. “The Orthodox Union is a non-partisan organization and does not endorse or oppose candidates for elective office.”

    • What’s your point? The OU neither endorsed nor opposed Sanders. They merely slammed him for the stupid remarks made.

  2. Bernie Sanders thinks he is bred into Israel. This is somewhat interesting. In reality, he is not bred into our sanity. There is no Torah study and he is filled with unorthodox practice.

Take it as it is, I can not imagine G-d is honored by a jewish man in office the highest just because he is a jew. He must be an example to our hopes and our faith in G-d. This guy is just a buggy charlatan looking for his easiest capture of the human achievement.

In turn, he is a good guy for his senate seat. Any jew in office at all can be blessed, but the president should be a jew who is a positive example of Torah in the world where we can find our Rights as Jews.

Scary, but if Hashem has him elected, get ready for 4 years of the unholy in the White House. I would be afraid to see what was on the dinner table.
