ou-emblemThe Orthodox Union’s general website, http://www.ou.org, is a veritable mine of information on OU programs, events, and offers lectures and shiurim on many different topics. Its weekly magazine, Shabbat Shalom, presents original and interesting features along with Shabbos recipes and questions and answers and tips on kosher cooking. And just as Jews around the world clean their homes from top to bottom at least once a year in honor of Pesach, the OU, too, gets ready for the Yom Tov by offering an annual specialized site, http://www.oupassover.com, featuring halachos of Pesach, kosher for Pesach recipes, cleaning tips, informative articles, and more.

The website, which was created in 2006, has been updated for Pesach 2010.

Pesach is a wonderful, but also incredibly detailed, holiday,” declared Rabbi Menachem Genack, CEO of OU Kosher. “The OU Passover website clarifies many issues of concern regarding proper preparation and observance of the Festival, while also providing informative and enjoyable features on various aspects of the holiday. The website is a wonderful resource for the entire Jewish community.”

New for Pesach 2010 include articles such as, “In Search of a Stress-Free Pesach? Try Calling your Local Pesach Organizer,” by Chana Billet, about a new trend of organized women sharing their expertise with those who are more frazzled; and “The Chef’s Table – Healthy Passover Pleasures,” by Norene Gilletz, with new, healthy recipes for Pesach such as low-carb chicken matzah balls, honey ‘n’ herb turkey, and vegetable muffins.

Popular features that have returned from previous years include a fully downloadable Passover Guide, which sorts all the various products, both edible and household items, into two sections of those allowed on Passover and those not kosher for Passover; an expansive database of all OU Kosher for Passover products; and a section of frequently asked questions and answers on common Passover food inquiries.

Rabbi Yonatan Kaganoff, OU Kosher Rabbinic Coordinator and creator of the OU’s Passover website, declared, “The OU Kosher Passover Website is designed to help anyone worldwide keep the holiday of Pesach with an easy-to-download Product Listing; an online searchable Product Search, and useful and important information about making certain that your Pesach is 100 percent kosher.”
