lakewood-car-power-downLakewood, NJ – Thousands of residents of Lakewood have lost power due to an issue with a power substation, according to JCP&L, the utility company that provides power to the town.

The outage struck the heart of Lakewood, including Beth Medrash Govoah’s main campus and Irvington campus.

Other areas affected, according to officials, include Forest Avenue, Madison Avenue, Ridge Avenue, Princeton Avenue, County Line Road, Squankum Road, Main Street, Clover Street and Monmouth Avenue from 13th Street down to Third Street.

With traffic lights out on busy thoroughfares such as Madison Avenue and Clifton Avenue, motorists have been asked to use caution when driving. Police officers are doing their best to keep order.

Updated, 4 p.m.: The problematic substation is located on Cedar Bridge Avenue. About 5,000 people lost power. Power has been restored to several thousand customers.

Those still without power have been told to expect their electricity restored between 5 and 10 p.m. JCP&L has not revealed the cause of the outage.

  1. MANY MESSAGES TO LEARN among them 2
1)the human being was made to take things for granted & therefore we sometimes need a reminder what it feels like without it, so we can start appreciating it again & give the proper thanks to Hashem. WHAT better time to plunge into darkness then the day before lag baomer?

2)when sadness & bad things occur, we naturally let it pass & convince ourselves that its coincidence due to not being able to face reality, when in fact nothing is coincidence & there’s always a message & reason for something to happen.

DARKNESS IS A MESSAGE OF BEING WITHOUT HASHEM C”V
LET US START TESHUVA NOW BEFORE HASHEM PLUNGES US INTO DARKNESS…. C”V
