israel-rallyOver 10,000 people attended a rally Monday in front of the United Nations in a show of solidarity for Israel as it continues to fight Hamas.

“There wasn’t room to fit in another body,” Jeff Ralafel of Westport, Connecticut, said.

The UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York organized Monday’s rally at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. In addition several Reform, Conservative and Orthodox Jewish groups co-sponsored the rally, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

Placards reading “we are all Israel” and “NY Loves Israel” were held high. Many in the crowd waved Israeli flags. People seemed to fill every square inch of 47th Street between First and Second Avenues, Ralafel said.

  1. As one who was in attendance, the warmth, support and unity towards Israel and its defenders was outstanding.

Many buses from shuls in Queens, Five towns and NJ are arrived and dropped off participants. Thousands left their offices in the midtown area to join in. There were groups saying tehillim, a mincha minyon and signs supporting Israel.

Reminds me way back over forty years ago when Rabbi Moshe Scherer in Agudah archived pictures of Rabbi Sherer o”H at an anti PLO rally on a dais with a Reform Rabbi and a nun.

BTW think the numbers were between 15,000 and 20,000 people.
