babies-nurseryA new record number of births was set last month at Maayanei Hayeshuah Medical Center, located at 17 Sharet in Bnei Brak, where over 900 babies were born during the month of September. About 500 of them were boys and 10% were twins. About 10% were born premature. The previous monthly record was set in December 2008 when over 800 babies were born.

The busiest day at the hospital on record was Yom Kippur this year when over 40 babies were born. Another record set this year was a specific 8-hour shift when 24 babies were born.

The administrative director of the medical center, Mr. Nadav Chen, said that since Maayanei Hayeshuah was established two decades ago, 120,000 mothers have been treated by doctors, midwives and nurses at the hospital, which is equipped with the most advanced equipment and 11 delivery rooms, providing a hospitalization experience at the level of a hotel.
The director of the OB/GYN Department in the hospital, Dr. Benny Chen, said that the most impressive statistic is the number of natural births at Maayanei Hayeshuah. 88.5% of births are natural; only 12.5% of babies are born by Caesarean section, about half the national average.
