An Israeli family of five, including several young children, were lightly wounded Friday after a Palestinian hitchhiker threw acid inside of their car.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the family picked up a hitchhiker near a security checkpoint near Gush Etzion in Judea and Samria, where he proceeded to throw acid on the family and attack the father with a screwdriver. The Palestinian was eventually shot by an armed civilian and apprehended by Border Police.
Reports indicate that the father was hit in the face with the acid and was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, the mother and three girls, ages 8 to 10, were lightly wounded and taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
The man was identified as Jamal Abd al-Majid Ghayatha, 45, from the Palestinian village of Nahalin, Ma’an News Agency reported. Ghayatha was a former prisoner in Israeli jail, Israel Radio reported.
In a separate incident, a Palestinian driver crashed a vehicle into a bus station where two IDF soldiers were standing outside of a military outpost near Nablus in the West Bank. No soldiers were injured.

The details in the post are inaccurate – the driver stopped for a Jewish hitchhiker, and at that moment an Arab ran past and threw the acid at the car and the hitchhiker.
